George and WB Chaffey arrive in Australia as the result of a meeting in America with Alfred Deakin, former Prime Minister of Australia. Deakin invited the renowned Chaffey Brothers of Ontario Canada to irrigate and develop 500,000 acres of land in South Australia and Victoria. These developments quickly become the largest vineyard regions in Australia and today provide wine for most of Australia\'s top selling international wine brands.
WB Chaffey establishes Chateau Mildura Winery Distillery (later named Mildara Wines, the cornerstone of what is now Australia’s largest wine company).
Mildara Winery crushes it’s first vintage, marking the establishment of the Chaffey Family winemaking legacy. Mildara eventually becomes the cornerstone of the Australia's largest premium wine company. George Chaffey leaves Australia soon afterward to develop a similar but even more ambitious project in California.
Seaview Wines is established in Mclaren Vale by WB Chaffey’s grandson WB ‘Ben’ Chaffey and his business partner FH Edwards. Ben Chaffey is amongst the first graduates of Roseworthy College's world revered Oenology Diploma course, the second year intake graduating in 1939.
Seaview Cabernet Sauvignon is released, one of the first varietal dry red table wines offered in Australia. Also, Seaview is one of the first to plant and bottle Sauvignon Blanc as a varietal in Australia. Ben Chaffey pioneers the blending of wines from Eden Valley in the Barossa, and McLaren Vale to achieve the highest quality possible.
Daniel Chaffey Hartwig registers the Chaffey Bros. Wine Co trademark utilising the original Chaffey Bros Ltd letterhead logo as inspiration. Chaffey Bros Wine Co is established in December marking the first step in realising a life long dream.
Chaffey Bros. Wine Co releases it's first super premium range of wines from the Barossa. The first releases are “Not your Grandma's Riesling” a modern take on the classic Eden Valley Riesling and “The Barossa is Shiraz” a contemporary Barossa archetype. The renowned wine merchants Samuel Smith and Son take on the distribution of the new wines in their highly regarded and exclusive portfolio.
